Have you been following this year’s summer Olympic events in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil? The Olympics are not only fun to watch, but they inspire athletes and non-athletes alike across the world. They invoke a sense of patriotism across participating countries and bring many cultures together as we watch our chosen athletes compete against each other in a show of strength and athleticism.
The Olympic games are rooted in ancient history and date all the way back to 776 BC in Olympia, Greece. Now, 3,000 years later, we continue the Olympic tradition with games taking place every four years. We have been keeping our eyes on a few of our personal favorite events, which include:
- Trampoline Gymnastics – this aerial acrobatic event has men and women competing on high jumping trampolines as they somersault their way to a winning medal!
- Basketball – the best of the best players come together on the basketball court to battle for gold. This game is celebrating 80 years at the Olympics this summer!
- Athletics – this event includes running, jumping, and throwing and dates all the way back to the 1800’s. It is the most traditional event of the Olympics and awards the most medals.
We are so proud of our Olympians and look forward to seeing how the medal count rounds out at the end of the games.
The summer Olympics may be ending soon, but that doesn’t mean the Olympic spirit has to end! Head on out to Helium Trampoline & Climbing Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where you can pretend to be your favorite Olympian by jumping high on our trampolines and slam dunking on our basketball court. You can reenact your favorite olympic moves and have all your friends cheer you on in olympic fashion!
We can’t think of a better way to carry on the Olympic spirit even after the games have ended!
